This scholarship is intended to provide an immersion experience for a teacher in a public or private K-12 Spanish program who has shown professional commitment to, and sustained involvement in, the teaching of the Spanish language and culture. The scholarship includes two weeks of class instruction (3 hours per day) at the Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca. APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED UNTIL MAY 25, 2012.
The Cemanahuac-ICTFL Scholarship will be awarded to an ICTFL teacher member in a Spanish program at any level, elementary through secondary, in a public, private, or parochial school. The scholarship will cover two weeks of study at the Cemanahuac Educational Community, located in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, during the summer of 2012, including family housing with all meals, registration, tuition, and one field study trip. Travel to and from Cuernavaca will be paid by the scholarship recipient.
The purpose of this award is to provide support for Illinois teachers who have to pay their own expenses to attend the state foreign language conference. Toward this end, ICTFL will award stipends of up to $100 each to full-time foreign language teachers who are in their first or second year of teaching in Illinois schools. The stipends will be deducted from the registration fee for the ICTFL 2010 Fall Conference.
In the spring of 2002, the ICTFL Board of Directors created the Carole Ann Ryan Award for college students who are preparing to become teachers of foreign languages. As many as five such awards will be presented annually, to recognize promising students enrolled in Illinois colleges and universities.
In 1995, the ICTFL Board of Directors established the Montserrat Vilarrubla Award to recognize individuals who have recently entered the foreign language teaching profession and who show outstanding promise of becoming professionally active ICTFL members, as well as capable teachers of foreign languages, including English as a second language.
The Presidents Award is intended to express the appreciation of presidents past and present for members who have made “significant contributions to the structuring, stability, or image of the Illinois Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.” It is presented at the Fall Conference. The winner receives a $100 cash award, a commemorative plaque, lifetime membership in the Illinois Council, and complimentary registration for all I.C.T.F.L. conferences and one-day workshops for the following year.
