Professional Development Opportunity: Oral Proficiency Interview

Strengthen your Core with ACTFL Training for the

ICTFL will once again bring its language educator members the opportunity to participate in ACTFL Oral Proficiency Workshop Training in Summer 2017.  Spend 4 days with certified ACTFL Trainers and learn the descriptors that measure language proficiency.  If your school district has or is considering adoption of the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy, this training will support your teachers as they move your language learners up the proficiency ladder.

The Full OPI Workshop is an intensive four-day introduction to the techniques of administering and rating the Oral Proficiency Interview. The rating scale and techniques for eliciting a ratable sample are highlighted in daily plenary sessions and then reinforced in language-specific break-out sessions. Participants have the opportunity to observe live demonstration interviews conducted by their trainer. Under the trainer’s supervision, they then conduct their own practice interviews with volunteer candidates.  The group critiques and discusses both these practice interviews and their ratings. Following the workshop, participants may apply to become ACTFL OPI Raters and Testers.

ICTFL is offering the full OPI Workshop in both June and July.  A multiple-registration discount is available for school districts.  To register, download the PDF registration form below.  Online registration is not available for this event.  For more information contact Todd Bowen at profesionallearning@ictfl.org.   Application deadline is May 1st.  The $850 fee for the four day workshop includes training, materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks.  Nearby hotel arrangements can be coordinated through ICTFL.  A 10% rebate for school districts is available.
