Schedule Information: This position teaches a standard load of 15 credit hours per semester (30 credits per academic year). In addition to teaching 15 contact hours per semester, a full-time American Sign Language faculty member serves on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees, holds six office hours per week (four of which must be on campus); and pursues professional development opportunities related to discipline and pedagogy. This faculty member also serves as the advisor to the ASL student club.
Weeks per fiscal year: Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)

The successful candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of American Sign Language courses including entry level, intermediate sign language, and introduction to deaf culture to students of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of college readiness using traditional and alternative delivery methods. Faculty may teach in multiple modalities including traditional on campus, blended, online, and accelerated formats upon completion of training in these areas.
We encourage interested candidates to familiarize themselves with our course offerings. The successful candidate will have a 5/5 load consisting chiefly of American Sign Language courses and may have the opportunity to incorporate the deaf culture class into the Social Justice Studies Program and "linked" courses (through the college's Learning Communities Program).
We seek a full-time colleague to begin in August 2024.
Educational Requirements: A master’s degree in Deaf Studies, American Sign Language or related field. ASLTA certification is required with a score of at least level 4 on the ASLPI.
Experience Requirements: College-level teaching experience is required with community college teaching experience strongly preferred. Experience using technology delivering sign language instruction including online course delivery required.
